Fancy Yarn
What is the difference between fancy yarn and plain yarn?
Plain yarn has a uniform thickness and structure along its length. Fancy yarn deliberately includes effects such as loops, slubs, hairiness or shiny fibres, which add texture and volume to the fabric.
What is fancy yarn used for?
It is used in knitted sweaters, cardigans and dresses, in hand-knitted shawls, scarves and blankets, and in woven upholstery and home textiles.

Knitting Yarn
Is knitting yarn the same as hand knitting yarn?
Similar fibres can be used, but machine knitting yarn is wound on cones for smooth feeding and its count is chosen by machine gauge. Hand knitting yarn is usually supplied in balls or skeins and chosen by needle or hook size.
How do I choose the right yarn count?
Choose it by machine gauge and target fabric weight. A knitting trial with samples gives the most reliable result.
Which knitting yarn is best for sweaters?
For winter knitwear, wool, acrylic and brushed or bouclé blends are common; for lighter seasons, cotton and viscose blends are preferred.
Hand Knitting Yarn
What is the difference between hand knitting yarn and machine knitting yarn?
Hand knitting yarn is prepared in balls or skeins for needles and hooks; machine knitting yarn is wound on cones and its count is chosen by machine gauge.
Which hand knitting yarn is good for shawls and scarves?
Light, soft brushed or bouclé yarns give shawls and scarves a voluminous, warm look.
Do you sell retail?
We produce for brands, wholesalers and manufacturers. Use the Sample Request form for wholesale and private label enquiries.
Bouclé Yarn
Is boucle the same as bouclé?
Yes. Both spellings come from the French “bouclé” and describe the same looped fancy yarn.
What is bouclé yarn used for?
Knitted sweaters, cardigans and jackets; hand-knitted blankets, shawls and beanies; woven bouclé coat fabrics and upholstery.
Which stitch is best for bouclé yarn?
Because loops partly hide the stitches, plain stockinette or simple open patterns are recommended.
Brushed Yarn
What is brushed yarn?
A fancy yarn whose surface is raised by brushing, making it soft, lightweight, voluminous and warm, with a mohair-like halo.
Does brushed yarn shed?
Because of its fuzzy surface it may shed a little at first; fibre choice and proper care minimise this.
How should brushed yarn garments be washed?
Wash at low temperature on a delicate cycle without wringing and dry flat; always follow the care label.
